What do you do about holidays?

Our scheduled Holidays are: New Years Day, M.L. King Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.  If your pick up day falls on a holiday, your service will be one day late and all service days thereafter will be one day late for that week.  If the Holiday Falls on Saturday or Sunday, service will not be affected.

What areas does Kirby Sanitation service?

Kirby Sanitation offers residential services the Easley, Greer, Inman, Lyman, Powdersville, Simpsonville, Taylors and Welford areas. Kirby Sanitation offer commercial dumpster services in all of Greenville and Spartanburg Counties. If you are interested in our service please contact our office to confirm that we service your area.

What time should I put my trash cart out for pick up?

Trucks start running routes as early as 4 a.m.  It is your responsibility to make sure your cart is out for collection when the truck comes by.  For this reason we ask that all customers put their cart out for pick up the night before your service day to ensure that you receive service.

Where should i place my trash cart for pickup

Please place your trash cart within 5 feet of the road with the handles on the cart facing away from the road. Please do not place the carts behind bushes, mailboxes, fences or anything else that might restrict access or block the cart from view of our drivers. DO NOT place item that could possibly be considered trash by our team within 20 feet of the trash cart. Kirby Sanitation will pick up trash that is not in the cart and will NOT be responsible for items that are left within 20 feet of the trash can and collected as garbage even if they are not intended as garbage.

How does Kirby Sanitation bill?

All residential trash accounts are billed quarterly (every 3 months), and are billed in advance.

When is my trash bill due?

All invoices are due within 30 days of the invoice date. We accept cash, check, money order, credit card and debit card. Statement will be mailed to accounts not paid at 30 days and 60 days after the invoice date. Service will be suspended on all accounts that are past due and a $10.00 late fee will be added to the account.

What can I put in my trash cart for pick up?

We do not pick up oil, paint, tires, batteries, propane tanks, pressurized tanks, tvs, computers, printers, monitors or hazardous material due to the fact these items are not accepted at the landfill.

Can Kirby Sanitation pick my yard waste?

Yes, Kirby Sanitation offers yard waste collection to our customers on a prepaid basis at a rate of $1.00 per bag.  Please call the office to purchase your yard waste stickers and let us know if you have an excessive amount of yard waste (5 or more bags) so we can schedule to have it picked up in case there is not sufficient capacity to pick it up on route.  All yard waste must be securely bagged and limbs must be bundled.  Limbs must be cut into 18-inch lengths and have 2-inch or smaller diameter.  Bundles must not exceed 35 pounds.  Kirby Sanitation is not responsible for busted bags or the mess they make, so please do not over load your yard waste bags.

Can Kirby Sanitation pick up an appliance or furniture?

Yes, Kirby Sanitation also offers large item collection to its customers (washers, dryers, couches, etc.) however this cannot be done on route and requires a special trip to be picked up, so please call the office if you need to schedule a pickup.  The minimum charge for any large item collection in $50.00.

What should I do if all my trash will not fit into my trash cart?

Kirby Sanitation bases its prices on the amount of waste that will fit into a 96-gallon trash cart, and allow two trash bags outwside of the trash cart. If you still have additional garbage Kirby saniation will pick it up but, there is an additional charge or $1 per bag or $3 for a household trash cart. This will automatically be charged on your next bill. Please, do not over load your cart (250 lb. maximum) as this will result in damage to cart.  If you have additional trash on a regular basis and would like to have it picked up please call the office to make arrangements to receive an additional cart(s).

My trash cart is broken what should I do?

Please contact the office if you cart is broken and needs repair.  As long as your cart is not damaged from personal neglect, and your cart fails or breaks due to normal wear and tear there is no charge for any repair or replacement if it cannot be repaired.

My trash cart is dirty and stinks what should I do?

You are supplied with a clean trash cart when you start with our service and it is your responsibility to maintain its cleanliness.  When your service is terminated please return your cart in the same condition you received it.

Does Kirby Sanitation offer recyling service?

Yes, Kirby Sanitation does offer recycling service in selected areas. Kirby Sanitation is recycling #1 and #2 plastic, paper, cardboard, and aluminum. Kirby Sanitation will supply you with an 18-gallon recycling bin and pick up your recycling 2 times a month. Can I use my own trash cart?

Yes, you can use your own trash cart in place or in addition to the trash cart Kirby Sanititation provides. However Kirby Sanitation is not responsible for loss or damange to your personal trash cart. There is a $3.00 additional charge if your cart is out in addition to the cart you were provided.

What Can I put in my trash cart for pick up?

We will NOT accept electronic waste (computers, tvs, printers or monitors etc.). NO liquids of any kind, oil, cooking oils and paint, tires, batteries, propane tanks or pressurized tanks of any kind. Kirby Sanitation is not responsible for any oil, paint or liquids placed in the trash or possible spills, leaks or staining on roadways or paved surfaces on which we have access.
